My buddy wants to bet me on the games tonight and I’m not sure who to pick? I only want serious opinions from real NBA fans. NO homer picks!

Toronto Raptors +7.5 over the Orlando Magic
Orlando Magic -7.5 over the raptors
Boston Celtics -9.5 over Atlanta Hawks
Atlanta Hawks +9.5 over Boston Celtics
Los Angeles Lakers -5 over the Denver Nuggets
Denver Nuggets +5 over Los Angeles Lakers

or any of these teams to just win

You can bet the Magic will take care of business at home. But according to spread the Raptors would be the team to bet on 7.5 points is a lot of points to lose by in the playoffs.

With All the momentum the Hawks have from the last game you have to believe they’re gonna come out firing. Pick the Hawks especially with that large spread.

I’m a Laker fan but my professional opinion is that the Lakers will beat Denver by more than 5. Allen Iverson sat on the bench for over 6 min last game in the fourth quarter. That told me all I needed to know about their intensity.

For all of us Lakers-haters around the world, we have to accept the bitter & painful reality – this current Laker team is bound to win more championship ala MJ’s Bulls of the 90’s. But can they be stopped? – Of course! But we’ll answer that later.

Indeed, this current Laker team is dynasty-bound but we Lakers-haters are always in denial, coming-up with all sorts of excuses for their success. One popular excuse is – they’re just lucky. Lucky as in: they didn’t face the best team in the East due to KG’s injury or – they made lucky shots that are game changers, specifically Fisher.

We also point-out that Fisher’s old (currently 34), the younger point guards of opposing teams will punish him & exploit that mismatch. Well, that’s true & this has been said over the last several years, that the Lakers will loose because of the weakness at the point guard.

But we always forget that the rest of the talented Lakers team ultimately compensates for this so-called "weakness" that they are able to keep any games close, then guess who makes the big 3’s in the end? And Derek has done this over the years, not only against Orlando. Hence, we need to stop relishing at this big misconception as it only gives us false hope.

Sure, Chris Paul, Billups, Parker, Deron, Rondo, & the rest of them great PG’s will score a bunch against Fisher & eat him alive but in the end, Derek beats them with his clutch 3’s which is what really makes him a royal pain in the ass! How I wish the Warriors never let him go & kept him for the 6 years contract they signed him back in 2004, when Derek became a free agent after LA’s defeat against the Pistons.

Inshort, don’t count on Fisher being the "weakest link" of the soon-to-be NBA dynasty. That has been said over the years yet it never happened! Fisher is no "weak link" against the great PG’s of the NBA & I bet it ain’t gonna happen for the next 6 years even if he will be 40 by then!

But can the impending Lakers dynasty be stopped? Sure it can be stopped but that will be answered later.

The next "weak link" that we Lakers-haters also mentions of is Andrew Bynum. Sure, he disappeared during this playoffs but we have to remember that he came off a major injury then returned too soon. Also, we have to remember that prior to the injury, he was becoming a basketball monster! For sure, he will return to form next year, if not better coz’ he’s young & continuously improves. Hence, it will also be "false hope" that Bynum will be a weak-link next year not unless another injury hits him (which is the only thing we Lakers-haters can hope for.)

How I wish the Warriors picked Bynum back in 2005 instead of that bust Ike Diogu who’s now with the Pacers. The Lakers drafted after the Warriors & they picked a then 17 y.o. Bynum out of high school which was very risky! But the Warriors also did it with Kobe back in ‘96 – they picked that lousy Todd Fuller ahead of Kobe & the rest was history. Ahhhh, those damn, stupid, idiotic Warriors scouts. Their idiocy has been the Lakers gain over the years & so, we Lakers-haters should actually hate the Warriors too!

The next "weak link" we also mention of is the soft & inconsistent Lamar Odom. Well, forget it! He finally found his groove which started during the regular season (when Bynum went down & he became a starter) & it carried over to the playoffs. Sure, Lamar will still be inconsistent & soft at times next year but the Lakers are just too deep to be able to compensate. But when it matters, the "good Odom," for some reason, is always able to rise to the occassion much to our demise, all of us Lakers-haters!

But can the impending "Lakers dynasty" be stopped? Sure, it can be but we’ll answer that later.

The next "weak link" is Trevor Ariza who’s very much like Odom – unpredictable! You don’t know which Ariza will show up. Yet like Odom, the "good Ariza" is able to show up when it matters. And like Odom, the Lakers will find a way to re-sign him instead of lossing him & Lamar to free agency.

The next "weak link" is Kobe as age is catching-up with him. Well, forget that one too, that’s only "false hope" for us Lakers-haters as MJ, eventhough he was already 40, was still good with the Wizards. Whereas with Kobe, he will only be 32 next year yet he’s in the very same mold as MJ talentwise & competetiveness. Hence, he still has 8 years to make the impending "Lakers dynasty" become a reality.

The next "weak link" then is the Lakers ownership itself. Will they be able to re-sign their free agents namely: Odom, Ariza, Josh Powell, & Shandon Brown? The answer is "yes" for Odom & Ariza but they will probably not have enough money to keep Powell & Brown which is ok since Odom & Ariza are the priority to make the impending dynasty a reality.

And eventhough the Lakers won’t be able to match what the other teams are going to offer Odom & Ariza, it’s just quite puzzling why over the years, key

SUre why not

Thank you for the looooooooong question or rant

Hey there,

Has anyone tried www.WorldsGreatestNBABettingSystem.com

I’ve only heard great things about it from friends and big sports fans. Although the site doesn’t look the greatest, apparently they have a 98% win rate and a few people I know have made thousands with it.

Just want to know if others have had success with it?

Professional sports gamblers (that is a person that makes a living from wagering on sporting events) use only one real system. They will examine all of the opening line odds on a particular game, examine the status reports from the teams, and then make their wager based on the statistical ability of the healthy players.

Remember, the house’s opening line is also taking this information into account, and this basically means that, when you bet against the house, you are betting that the house incorrectly analyzed the statistics of the known healthy players of the event. Since your top sportsbooks are utilizing some pretty advanced software and histograms to make their opening lines…good luck on you being able to say they got their analysis wrong.

Then again, they didn’t offer a line on at all Appalachian State versus Michigan…and probably lost a TON of money because "the program said" on the deal. LOL.

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=ap-bettingprobe&prov=ap&type=lgns

I read this story this morning but they haven’t named the official. It would be interesting to find out what games he officiated and who won in those games. They are saying he bet on games that he officiated in and might have worked the point spread in his favor in relation to his betting.

The said the investigation started recently and that it was a current NBA official. If anyone has any real info on this as far as who has been named, that would be great.

They are not releasing the names of the officials because the FBI told the league not to. The NBA better hope that official had nothing to do with the Miami-Dallas final or the Spurs-Suns series.

I believe there is some truth to it. I also believe the only reason Donaghy would say this is because he has his back to the corner, and has no where to go, he wants to throw a couple of swings.

For those who don’t know. Tim Donaghy, the NBA referee being investigated for betting on games he called, says that in some NBA playoff series that the refs are told not to call a flagrant on a star player, or to go overboard and call trivial calls on players, too.

That’s the exact reason I do not watch much if any basketball. During the season the strong will survive, but when it comes to the payoffs, it is up to the league to decide. I have seen it every year, but is not just in basketball, it is in hockey, and baseball as well. If you watched the NHL finals, you could see they were doing their best to keep the Pens in it, just like a few years ago, the Pistons were all over the Spurs, but it was foul after foul against the Pistons. Now for the NFL, it’s a little harder, since they only play one game, but it is more prevalent in the NCAA. If you honestly think every thing is on the up and up (not you per-say), then you are just plain naive.
