The FBI is investigating an NBA referee who allegedly was betting on basketball games – including ones he was officiating during the past two seasons – as part of an organized-crime probe in the Big Apple, The Post has learned. One source close to the probe counted the number of games on which the ref and his wiseguy buddies scored windfalls in the "double digits." NBA Commissioner David Stern is aware of the investigation and has a report about the referee on his desk, another source said. The official, whose name was withheld, allegedly wagered on games during the 2005-06 and 2006-07 NBA seasons.
Does this prove that games can be fixed? All those mysterious calls don’t seem so innocent now do they *cough wade cough*.
Fixing games?

I knew Dick Bavetta was acting funny when the Mavs played the Heat in the finals. How funny would that be if Mark Cuban was right? Time to face the music David Stern.

I have always said that all games can be fixed. This proves that you don’t need to get to the players , but the officials. All sports are at risk. Money is the key to all evil. Just be on the right side of the fix.

Its definately possible. There is so much money in sports, that it doesn’t seem far-fetched. Players make too much money if you ask me. 100s of millions of dollars, for what, PLAYING ball? Don’t get me wrong, they’re smart for not turning it down, who wouldn’t. But realistically, they don’t deserve all the money they get. There are people, those overseas, who really deserve close to that type of money, and you see these people everyday. But its the way of the world, there are great riches in entertainment, some people know how to take advantage of that. More power to them, they are living the life, i wouldn’t turn down millions either.

That was exactly what I thought about as soon as this came out, the Mavs-Heat finals. What if it comes out that the series was fixed? You can’t let Miami keep the title but you can’t play it over again. Plus what happens to the way we view Dirk Nowitzki?
