SAN ANTONIO
Meanwhile, in the locker room, one Suns assistant coach was heard cursing out Bruce Bowen, who does seem better equipped for the WWF than the NBA. Stop. It’s too easy to blame this loss on the officials.

That is exactly what they should have done since the report came out about the truth.

The NBA acknowledged Friday the FBI is investigating Tim Donaghy for betting on games, including ones in which he officiated.

Donaghy, who reportedly has resigned, was an NBA official for 13 years. He officiated 68 games in the 2005-06 season and 63 games in 2006-07, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. He also worked 20 playoff games, including five last season — and the Spurs-Suns on May 12.

Next year – things will be different – David Stern better wake up!

Anyone read the article on cheating refs?

Those guys bet on games to control the outcome and the point spread

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=ap-bettingprobe&prov=ap&type=lgns

The FBI is investigating allegations that a veteran NBA referee bet on basketball games over the past two seasons, including ones in which he officiated.

According to a law enforcement official, authorities are examining whether the referee made calls to affect the point spread in games on which he or associates had wagered.

The law enforcement official said the bets involved thousands of dollars and were made on games during the 05/06 and 06/07

HA I BET THE NBA FINALS IN 06 was fixed…FRICKIN DWADE WENT TO THE LINE LIKE 15-20 times every damn game…it was horrible

Im not a mavs fan btw

I hope all these refs go down and SO DOES DAVID STERN…damn his change of rules and favor for the suns, spurs, cavs…im sick of it

The chances were supposedly slim already, but now that NBA referee Tim Donaghy is being investigated for betting on games, including games he officiated, won’t that pretty much guarantee that David Stern is never going to allow a team in Las Vegas?

Anyone who watches NBA games knows that anytime a player/coach makes a negative comment about the way NBA officials call games, they get fined a ridiculous amount of money. I call it ridiculous because the last time I checked, this was America and free speech was allowed (1st Amendment)! David Stern has a lot of explaining to do! He wants to fine players and coaches for comments and even try to control the way they dress off the court, but when the betting scandal that involved an NBA official came up, HE had to take a good look at the officials’ behavior! It’s gotten so crazy that you don’t really know how these games are going to turn out! Is the official making these kinds of calls because they’re real or because he has a gambling debt that he’s trying to pay off? Even though that’s a disgrace to the game, it’s an even bigger disgrace when your freedom of speech is taken away from you in regards to the things you can and cannot say! So what do the rest of you all think about this?!

The NBA has to stop treating the basketball players like their children. Of course their safety is important, but you have to let the players say things they want to say. The NBA has to let players stand up for their teammates when theres a hard foul. The NBA should allow players to argue with players that hard foul them. Of course these kinds of things should be stopped if it gets into a fight, but the NBA needs its intensity back. When Micheal Jordan argued and stood up for his players, all his fans/teammates were behind him, and I bet they were inspired by it to. Now the NBA is as boring as the Spurs playing badmiton. Thank you David Stern, you have turned this sport around.
