Anyone read the article on cheating refs?

Those guys bet on games to control the outcome and the point spread

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=ap-bettingprobe&prov=ap&type=lgns

The FBI is investigating allegations that a veteran NBA referee bet on basketball games over the past two seasons, including ones in which he officiated.

According to a law enforcement official, authorities are examining whether the referee made calls to affect the point spread in games on which he or associates had wagered.

The law enforcement official said the bets involved thousands of dollars and were made on games during the 05/06 and 06/07

HA I BET THE NBA FINALS IN 06 was fixed…FRICKIN DWADE WENT TO THE LINE LIKE 15-20 times every damn game…it was horrible

Im not a mavs fan btw

I hope all these refs go down and SO DOES DAVID STERN…damn his change of rules and favor for the suns, spurs, cavs…im sick of it

Thoughts/ comments?

Over the past years the NBA has become extremely controversial. It’s not a secret that things are happening that wouldn’t be happening. For example:

July 21, 2007: Minnesota’s Kevin Garnett traded to the Boston Celtics for virtually nothing.
February 1, 2008: Memphis’s Pau Gasol traded to the LA Lakers for virtually nothing (This had nothing to do with Jerry West, a Hall of Fame ex-laker being the GM of the Memphis Grizzlies)

This "coincidental" sequence of events lead to an NBA finals series between the two teams, reminiscent of the NBA’s golden age from the 70s and 80s when the rivalry was founded.

It just so happens that the NBA Finals hit record lows in TV ratings the previous year. Anyone see the connection?

I’m just getting started here. Anyone heard the name Tim Donaghy in the news recently? The ex-referee used confidential NBA files before the season started to find out which officials were officiating which games. Then, with the information, he bet on games according to who was officiating (some games in which he personally officiated) – and often times, won.

There is obviously some kind of connection when a man can see just by which officials are officiating, and guess correctly who is going to win.

Back to the 2008 Playoffs:
In the 2nd round of the 2008 NBA Playoffs, the LA Lakers played the Utah Jazz. Arguably, the Jazz played the Lakers better than anybody in the playoffs that year (next to the Celtics, obviously). The Lakers would ultimately go on to win in 6 games. In the series, Kobe Bryant shot 90 free throws. That’s a lot of free throws in one series, and I’m not convinced that he earned half of them. This is all part of the conspiracy that led to the Lakers playing the Celtics in the 2009 NBA Finals "reunion".

Is there anything fishy going on in the NBA? From the looks of it, there has got to be some inside dealings going on. I’m just reading the facts and then looking into it. What do you guys think?

My man TWAS has been killing it with random NBA facts that I’ve never stopped to consider. I want a piece of the action, hope he doesn’t mind. My stuff can’t hold a candle to his. I got a couple you guys probably already know

Did you know the two tallest players to ever play both played for the Washington Bullets? Manute Bol and Gheorge Muresan were both 7′7 and expected to make an immediate and lasting impact due to their tremendous size. The Bol experiment didn’t work out that well, although he was a dominant shot blocker for a while, and is the only player in league history to have more blocks than points and shots attempted. I guess they thought Muresan would be better huh? All I remember him for was a phony soup commercial?

Did you realize that Michael Jordan actually averaged more assists than Magic Johnson in the 91 NBA Finals? Bet you didn’t… Magic was about 10.6 and Jordan was about 11.5…Sick right? Just shows how dominant the Bulls were that year and how hungry Jordan was for a title. He was willing to do whatever it took. Not to mention Terry Teagle and AC Green only shot 20%, messing up potential assists for Magic

Did you know that 30 of the players on the 50 Greatest NBA players Anniversary team never won the league MVP award? At first I thought that was simply because they werent giving it out at one point. Then I learned that they’ve been giving it out since 1955…Man that shocked me!

Did you know that Jumaine Jones’ jersey is going to be in the Basketball Hall of Fame because he hit the last basket of the 20th century as a member of the Sixers? (1999) Alot of you may not even remember who this guy is, and legends work their who lives to get into the Hall…and this guy gets in on a whim…HA!

Thats all I got LOL
