In case it gets corrected later on, it read:

A former high school classmate of "Tguiltyaghy" pleaded guilty Wednesday to charges he paid the disgraced basketball referee thousands of dollars for inside betting tips on NBA games.

Was it a hacker or did he actually write that or did someone on yahoo mess up?

Anyone read the article on cheating refs?

Those guys bet on games to control the outcome and the point spread

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=ap-bettingprobe&prov=ap&type=lgns

The FBI is investigating allegations that a veteran NBA referee bet on basketball games over the past two seasons, including ones in which he officiated.

According to a law enforcement official, authorities are examining whether the referee made calls to affect the point spread in games on which he or associates had wagered.

The law enforcement official said the bets involved thousands of dollars and were made on games during the 05/06 and 06/07

HA I BET THE NBA FINALS IN 06 was fixed…FRICKIN DWADE WENT TO THE LINE LIKE 15-20 times every damn game…it was horrible

Im not a mavs fan btw

I hope all these refs go down and SO DOES DAVID STERN…damn his change of rules and favor for the suns, spurs, cavs…im sick of it

Thoughts/ comments?

Have you ever bet on a game and though that the point spread was in your favor, but somehow you lost anyway and figured the game must be rigged? Now that the NBA referee that was just busted for rigging games, do you think there are more corrupt referees in other sports?

I read this story this morning but they haven’t named the official. It would be interesting to find out what games he officiated and who won in those games. They are saying he bet on games that he officiated in and might have worked the point spread in his favor in relation to his betting.

The said the investigation started recently and that it was a current NBA official. If anyone has any real info on this as far as who has been named, that would be great.
Don’t get all huffy sabes99, if he was betting on the games – it is also a gambling question.

Perhaps you should have read the story better.

Good Lord

18 months. So if the league knew about this in advance why didn’t they put those officials on suspension before the 2006-2007 season?

As a lifelong fan this really bothers me. How can I trust that the games are being called by neutral and honorable people.

David Stern is going to come out and lie to save his precious league.

They have already hired Mark Cuban as a mouthpiece to save the league which in itself is rediculous. Like people are going to just believe him because he goes against the David Stern grain during the season. So if he says it, it is true – that is BS

Of course Cuban would agree to that because he will lose money as well if they lose a large enough fan base, and nothing is as important as the dollar.

The year was already in question because of the Spurs dirty play, and the officials let them get away with it. Especially Bowen’s knee into Steve Nash’s groin area – and the ref in that game was Tim Donaghy. Then with the suspension of Stoudemire and Diaw

Story proves the investigation started 18 months ago!

Now watch Stern try to cover that up!
